Himachal Pradesh medical officer Association(HPMOA) Pushes for Reforms in Medical Officer Cadre and Leadership Posts

Step Toward Stronger Public Health: CM to Revisit Medical Officers’ Demands

The Himachal Pradesh Medical Officers’ Association (HPMOA) held a detailed and constructive meeting with the Hon’ble Chief Minister, during which all major concerns of the medical fraternity were presented.

The Association strongly raised the issue of the Director General Health Services (DGHS) post, emphasizing that in several states across the country, such key posts are occupied by qualified professionals from the medical fraternity. Similarly, the top leadership positions in institutions like PGI and AIIMS are also held by medical experts. The Hon’ble Chief Minister positively acknowledged the matter and assured that the notification regarding the DGHS post will be reverted shortly.

Following this, other pressing concerns of the medical fraternity were discussed. HPMOA also brought to the Chief Minister’s attention the need for a Modified Career Progression Scheme (MCPS) and highlighted the comparatively low salary structure of field Medical Officers (MOs), which continues to demotivate doctors serving in remote and challenging areas.

The Hon’ble Chief Minister appreciated the concerns and commitment of the medical community and has scheduled a follow-up meeting with HPMOA on 5th July, where further discussions will be held regarding our long-standing demands and constructive suggestions for the upliftment of healthcare services in the state.

The Association remains hopeful for positive outcomes and reiterates its dedication to strengthening the public health system in Himachal Pradesh.
