JUIT Marks World Environment Day with ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ Tree Plantation Drive
Waknaghat, June 5: Jaypee University of Information Technology (JUIT) celebrated World Environment Day 2026 by organizing a tree plantation drive based on the theme “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam.” The initiative was aimed at promoting environmental conservation while encouraging participants to dedicate a tree to their mothers as a symbol of gratitude and care.
The event was graced by Vice Chancellor Prof. R. K. Sharma, Registrar Brig. (Retd.) R. K. Sharma, Dean (Accreditation) Prof. Sunil Kumar Khah, Dean (Student Welfare) Prof. Rakesh Kumar Bajaj, Associate Dean Prof. Tirth Raj Singh, Head of the Department of Biotechnology and Bioinformatics, along with faculty members and staff members of the university.
A total of 60 participants actively took part in the plantation drive, during which around 30 saplings were planted across the university campus. The drive highlighted the importance of environmental sustainability and encouraged collective action towards creating a greener future.
Speaking on the occasion, university officials emphasized the need to preserve natural resources and instill environmental responsibility among the younger generation. The plantation campaign reflected JUIT’s continued commitment to environmental stewardship and sustainable development.

The event was successfully organized by Prof. Poonam Sharma and Dr. Ashok Kumar Nadda, who appreciated the enthusiastic participation of students, faculty and staff members in making the initiative a success.
