In a momentous event filled with joy and anticipation, the Innerwheel Club Shimla celebrated its installation ceremony, graced by the esteemed presence of Chief Guest, District Chairperson 308, Mrs. Seema Kapoor and guest of honour Dr. Neelam Rattan w/o Advocate General Hp. The installation ceremony, held at Combermere today, was a testament to the remarkable growth and success of the club. In a symbolic gesture, Mrs. Seema pinned the new head, Dr. Shalini Dhadwal, along with Vice President Smt. Reetika Lal, Secretary Renu Butail, Editor Sonia Arora, Treasurer Sonal Aggarwal, and ISO Namita Nag. The event marked a significant milestone for the club, instilling a sense of enthusiasm and determination among the team members for the term 2023-24.
In a bold and commendable move, Dr. Shalini Dhadwal and her dedicated team pledged to end single-use plastics. This initiative, announced during the task allocation ceremony, reflects the team’s commitment to tackling the detrimental effects of plastic on the environment, thus becoming a catalyst for change. Expressing deep concern over the rising issue of drug usage among the youth, Dr. Shalini Dhadwal, the esteemed head of Innerwheel Club Shimla, has taken a proactive step to combat this problem. In collaboration with Shri Ram Hospital, New Shimla, Dr. Dhadwal and the club have established a dedicated counseling center to address drug and alcohol addiction among the youth.
A free ENT and Eye Camp was organized at Bal Ashram, near Kamla Nehru Hospital (KNH). The camp, aimed at providing much-needed medical services to underprivileged children, witnessed the participation of dedicated doctors, volunteers, and community members. In addition to the medical consultations, a hygiene talk was delivered by a doctor from the prestigious Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC), shedding light on the importance of maintaining good hygiene practices.
Innerwheel Club, renowned for its commitment to women’s empowerment and community development, has taken a significant step towards providing employment opportunities to young girls. The club has vocational centers set up, equipping girls with valuable skills and knowledge through branding workshops. The initiative seeks to empower young girls by enhancing their employability and fostering their economic independence. In a moment of camaraderie and growth, PIIWBD Mrs. Renu Baljee warmly welcomed four new members into the club.
