BRSI Confers Overseas Fellow Honor on Scientists at IIT Roorkee for Excellence in Microbial Biotechnology

: The Biotech Research Society of India (BRSI) has conferred the prestigious Overseas Fellow honor on leading scientists, including Professor Rajesh, during a ceremony held at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee, in recognition of their outstanding contributions to microbial biotechnology and sustainable bioprocessing.

As cited by BRSI, the award recognizes pioneering research that has advanced extremophilic bioprocessing, sustainable biomanufacturing, and carbon-negative technologies. The honored work integrates fundamental microbiology with engineering innovations to convert greenhouse gases and biomass into high-value bioproducts, supporting the development of a resilient circular bioeconomy.

BRSI highlighted that the research portfolio includes over USD 74 million in competitive funding, 155 high-impact publications, multiple patents, and sustained efforts in Indo-US scientific mentorship and collaboration, strengthening global partnerships in biotechnology.

Professor Rajesh, who was also conferred the Overseas Fellow honor, was recognized for his significant role in advancing cutting-edge biotechnology research and fostering international academic collaboration.

The Overseas Fellow honor is among BRSI’s highest recognitions and is awarded to scientists of global standing whose work has made a lasting impact on biotechnology, sustainability, and climate-responsive innovation.

The award ceremony was attended by eminent scientists, academicians, and industry leaders from across the country.
