National Hematology Update Inaugurated at IGMC Shimla

Shimla, June 14:
A two-day National Hematology Update was inaugurated today at the prestigious Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC), Shimla, in the esteemed presence of Dr. Sita Thakur, Principal IGMC, Dr. Rahul Rao, Medical Superintendent IGMC, and Dr. Manish Gupta, Head of the Department of Radiotherapy, IGMC.

During the inaugural session, Dr. Manish Guptaacknowledged the commendable efforts of Dr. Rajeev Sandal, the only hematologist from the Himachal Pradesh Health Services, for his relentless dedication in providing state-of-the-art care to patients suffering from hematological disorders and malignancies. He lauded Dr. Sandal’s pivotal role in organizing this significant academic event and expressed hope that his efforts will inspire more medical professionals, paving the way for the establishment of a Bone Marrow Transplant Centre at IGMC in the near future.

Dr. Rajeev Sandal, the Organising Secretary, shared that this two-day update will witness participation from several eminent hematologists from across Northern India. The academic sessions will feature talks, case discussions, and panel interactions covering a wide spectrum of hematological disorders. The event aims to serve as a platform for learning, collaboration, and advancement in the field of Clinical Hematology.

The update will continue on 15th June, culminating in a press meet, where experts will outline the roadmap ahead for strengthening hematology services in the region and across the country.
