SAMDCOT strongly condemns the most unfortunate incident that happened at RG KAR medical college Kolkata

State Association of Medical and Dental College Teachers association (SAMDCOT) strongly condemns the most unfortunate incident that happened at RG KAR medical college Kolkata and is deeply concerned about security and safety of Doctors and Health care workers in state as well as at National level.

The Himachal Pradesh Medicare Service persons and Medicare service institutions ( Prevention of violence and damage to property) Amendment Act , 2017, regarding the violation of rights of healthcare workers must be notified and implemented without any delay. SAMDCOT fully supports the cause of concern of the resident doctors and their demands must be accepted by the concerned authorities.
SAMDCOT wants to call on the general public to support us in this serious cause so that the health care workers may work without fear and serve better to the public at large. We also request the general public to not to visit hospitals unless urgent or referred from peripheral hospitals as OPDs and Elective Operation Theatres will not be functioning effectively without the support of residents as they are the backbone of any health institution.
However, Emergency Services/ICU will not be affected and will run as per schedule.
The spokesperson further added that if the genuine demands of the Healthcare workers are not met at the earliest, SAMDCOT will be compelled to escalate the agitation in support of resident doctors.
