Key initiatives under the NIPUN Himachal program have been launched by Honorable Education Minister, Shri Govind Singh Thakur ji on 22nd February 2022 via a YouTube live event, at 3 pm.
NIPUN Himachal is the state mission of Himachal Pradesh under NIPUN Bharat, with the target to make 100% students of Himachal Pradesh in grades 1 – 3 competent in literacy and numeracy, by 2024-25, two years earlier than the national target. NIPUN Himachal program has the target of achieving foundational literacy and numeracy in all students of grades 1-3 through academic and administrative support.
Education Minister Sh. Govind Singh Thakur ji said, “Any school who achieves foundational literacy and numeracy in 100% schools will be called a NIPUN Vidyalaya. Not only will it be painted as a NIPUN Vidyalaya, the teachers of the school will be felicitated by the state government.”
A school can become NIPUN vidyalaya by following NIPUN Lakshyas. The goals of the mission are set in the form of NIPUN Lakshya, that is, end of year targets for Foundational Literacy and Numeracy. NIPUN Lakshyas will serve as an anchor for the teacher to effectively conduct FLN teaching in class. NIPUN Lakshya charts will be pasted in each and every classroom.
Teachers will be supported with teaching learning material in the form of teacher manuals for
each phase of the academic calendar. State will provide these teacher manuals to each teacher.
Each teacher should plan teaching using teacher manuals and lesson plans.
A mentoring campaign called ‘Mai bhi NIPUN Sahyogi’ will be launched, for activating cluster head teachers as mentors. NIPUN Sahyogis (Mentors) will provide mentorship and guidance on a continuous basis to schools and teachers, thus ensuring effective FLN implementation.
