PIB will act as effective interface between govt..and Local media in public interest

interaction with local senior media personnel, DIPR, AIR, FOB Officials


An informal interaction with mediapersons associated with Himachal Pradesh based newspapers, tabloids & other media organisations was held at Conference Hall, Press Information Bureau here today while observing COVID-19 SOPs including wearing of face masks and adequate physical distancing.

Following the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic, the interaction was first of the series of creating symbiotic relationship between local media and PIB to reach out to the common masses with government policies, programmes and welfare initiatives through print, electronic and social media platforms.


The session was attended by senior journalists, senior DIPR officer and media personnel from AIR & Field Outreach Bureau (FOB) under Ministry of I & B.


Sh. Pradeep Kunwar, Joint Director, Department of Information & Public Relations (DIPR), Sh. Som Kirti, Editor, Hills Guardian ; Sh. Jagdish Prabhakar, Editor, Vir Anand; Sh. Ajay Uniyal, Editor, Himalaya Times; Sh. Anil Verma, Programme Executive (Coordination), AIR Shimla; Ms. Shivani Kapoor, Dainik Savera Times ; Ms. Deepika Sharma, Editor, Asar Newz; Sh. Rajesh Mandhotra, State Bureau Chief, Himachal Dastak; Smt. Mamta, Performer, FOB Shimla; Sh. Ritesh Kapoor, Head of Regional News Unit (RNU), AIR Shimla and Sh. Prakash Bhardwaj, State Bureau Chief, Dainik Jagran, attended the session.


All the participants discussed various issues related to working of media organizations and role & responsibility of PIB in acting as effective interface between Central Government & the local media in the public interest.


The participants put forth several valuable suggestions and recommendations including conducting press tours within & outside Himachal Pradesh besides regular interpersonal interaction between PIB, DIPR & the print, electronic & social media operators. The media personnel also highlighted the need to cover local journalists under I & B Ministry’s Journalist Welfare Scheme and stressed the need to disseminate Himachal specific news content to all the media organizations in the public interest.


On the occasion PIB officials Sh. Ashok Kumar, C.G.-I ; Ms. Neha Kashyap, C.G.-II ; Sh. Daleep Singh, MTS and Sh. Vivek Bhatia, Outsource Assignee, were felicitated by the guest media personnel.
