This neonatal period carries the highest risk of mortality and if illness during this period is not properly managed, it might lead to developmental delays and lifelong morbidities. It is estimated that around 40% of all neonatal deaths occur during labour and the day of birth. About three-fourths of all neonatal deaths occur in the first week of life.<\/p>\n<p>To remind ourselves for provision and delivery of quality newborn care services at health facilities with ensuring safety &amp; child friendly services at all service delivery platforms, facilities, community outreach, homes etc. every year National Newborn Week(NNW) has been observed from 15th to 21st November as per Government of India guidelines.<\/p>\n<p>This year also State observed NNW with the theme &#8220;Ensuring Quality Health Care for every newborn\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>State has made remarkable progress on commitments for newborn survival and development. As per SRS report the IMR has decreased from 25 (2016) to 17 (2020) and still birth from 25 (2016) to 12 (2017). Towards the SDG goal 2030 for attaining single digit NMR and Still Birth rate state is making all efforts in coordination with stakeholders including families and communities.
